I started this Substack in 2021. Too early? I suspect I have been too early with several things related to technology, sort of standing on the surfboard into the future — trying to catch the next wave and next.

So when I logged in today it was with deep gratitude when I noticed I now have 300+ followers. Double that of Dunbar’s number. Thank you for finding it worthwhile to read my work. Especially now, when patience and pacing are super powers.

My Substack is an islet in the outer reaches of the archipelago in the northern reaches of Substack. Or another scenery: I am like someone in an old Western movie who moved to a valley next to a mountain, far away and only get the occasional Pony Express. And the fellow wanderers in the outskirts of Substack — you! Thank you to both new and old subscribers!

1. For the Essay Readers.

   1. The Return of the Letter — my attempt to get us to handwrite letters again actually gained a fair amount of interest and I produced handwritten letters to all who subscribed to this project. [4/2023]

   2. The color of butter — my earliest dream memory and my lifelong search for that yellow color. That resembles the color of butter. [1/2023]

2. For the Sci-Fi Readers.

   1. Aubade — a pet project of mine. A serialized sci-fi novel I plan to publish on Amazon in the near future. Lots of nods to ‘80s TV shows, sci-fi movies with lots of blinking lights and great characters, and a bit of romance and action too. Ripley and friends in space.

   2. Errante — my second sci-fi anthology is available for you on Amazon. Many of the stories were first published here.

   3. Bergtagen — for some reason this story became one of the more popular stories here. More fantasy than sci-fi, and rooted in the Finnish archeological world.

3. For the Omnivore.

   1. The best TV-series you haven’t seen — and why you must return to the ‘80s for that extra quality TV-show. Trust me.

   2. AI and you in the near future — you will need this in order to swim out of the technological riptide.

   3. Classic Movies for Beginners — this is one to bookmark. I am somewhat of a classic movie nerd, and here I have assembled the essential movies for you if you’d like a decent education in classic cinema.
