Loved this piece on cultivating friendship as adults, which feels underappreciated as a skill to bestow given how easy it is to do as kids and how nebulous it is as adults.
Thank you, Michael. I have long contemplated writing about this topic, and when I finally did it sort of meandered off in different direction than I wished. I'll try to capture my original thoughts another time, but it's difficult without getting too personal. Thanks so much for reading!
I think it is because as children we don’t expect anything from each other, we have this capacity to ease into and out of a situation that might or might not flourish into a friendship but expects nothing. We should be more fluid like that.
Yes. “a situation that might or might not flourish into a friendship but expects nothing.” And also, as you mentioned in your other comment — to appreciate people who show up in our lives.
I believe there truly was a "divide" some of us changed and some didn't.. right now it seems very lonely. However, the "connected" ones will find each other.
This is the time of upheaval, a sort out of sorts. They will, of course fight with everything they have, to keep up the illusion ( oppression and exploitation ) this has been in the making for a very long time..
It is darkest before dawn. The reality is, they have already lost. More and more humans are waking up and this dystopian insanity will soon come to an end.
It simply is not their world and all they are is parasites. We have seen this before on a smaller scale.. Romans, Inkans, Nazi's, and so forth..
I believe it had to get this bad, globally, for all of human kind to wake up.

I used to suck at making friends. I still do, but now I’m better at loving people as they come.
