And Then I Walked Home (Again)

The bicycle lock.

It was the bicycle lock

that blocked and shut and

threw us off course.

It was the key.

It was the key

to the bicycle lock

that I left at home that

locked us out.

It was the evening.

It was the evening

when we could have

spoken about the

missed years that

we should unlock.

It was the night.

It was the night

I walked home alone

instead of asking

you to help me

unlock my

bicycle lock.
